The MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge Games & Entertainment Circle has a great event coming up on February 28th, “Women in the MA Game Industry: A Discussion of Diversity, Challenges and Progress.” The line-up is stellar with Patricia Resende of Mass High Tech (moderator), Courtney Stanton (Women in Games Boston), Michelle Yaiser (Adobe), Jen Groff (MIT Learning Games Network), Fiona Cherbak (Interactive Selection, Boston Festival of Indie Games) and Vicky Wu Davis (Adalia, FrogHop). Making Money and Changing Names – MIT Enterprise Forum Games Circle 11/28 Event

For the past 5 years, I’ve sat on the steering committee of the MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge New England Games SIG. My role on the committee is managing the organization of events geared toward the game industry featuring thought-provoking panels/talks and which encourage  networking among local executives and developers.

This week we held our last event of 2012 – “Smart Money in Gaming: A Current and Future Look at Monetization Strategies in Retail, Mobile and Social Gaming.” And, it was kind of a big deal! Not only did we announce our change in name from the NE Games SIG to the “Games Circle,” but our event was our most well attended…ever! I guess anytime you put the word “money” in an event title, you are bound to attract a big audience.

A big thank you to Marco Mereu (uCool), Jeff Goodsill (Stomp Games), Chris Rigopolous (Harmonix), Dave Bisceglia (Tap Lab) and Layne Ainsworth (TapJoy) for participating in the panel. And, also thank you to Bob Ferrari and Bare Tree Media for helping to organize the panel and for the design of our new logo!

Stay tuned for details on the next Games Circle event, to be held 2/28/13 (www.GamesCircle.org).
