Game of Thrones Ascent Open Beta Launch – FTW!

Game of Thrones AscentFor the past 4 or 5 months, I’ve been working with the team at Disruptor Beam and also collaborating with HBO on the launch of open beta for Game of Thrones Ascent, the first ever social game based on HBO’s TV series and George R.R. Martin’s books.

Our beta launch was a ripe opportunity to communicate with key gaming, technology, entertainment and Boston-based media about the game and explain to press (and fans) why it is different from other Facebook games on the market today. After months of planning and prep for our launch, we saw widespread coverage of the game during its launch week, as a result of my efforts.

It was an incredible experience to help promote a game based on a franchise that I absolutely adore and to witness over 100k people who share my passion hop into the game in less than a week’s time span, was amazing. To give you a sense of some of the coverage I was able to secure, below is a summary of just a handful of the best stories that were posted surrounding the game’s open beta launch!

Boston Globe: “Hub Firm’s Game of Thrones Game Set to Launch on Facebook”

Kotaku: “Facebook is the Perfect Place to Play a Game of Thrones”

Mashable: “Game of Thrones Facebook Game Now Open to Fans” “Game of Thrones Ascent Charges Into Open Beta on Facebook” “Game of Thrones Ascent Review”

GameSpot, Escapist & Others Ride into Rohan (LOTRO)

One of my long-term clients (7 years – wow!) through 360 Public Relations has been Turbine, a part of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developer of The Lord of the Rings Online. I’ve helped to promote “LOTRO” since before the game’s initial launch in 2007. Turbine will soon launch the 4th major expansion pack for the game and it is particularly sweet because Riders of Rohan adds (drum roll, please)…Mounted Combat!

The expansion has received loads of pre-launch buzz, including previews surrounding E3 and  in-depth video features resulting from developer play sessions with media. Just some of the great coverage I secured leading into the Riders of Rohan launch has included:
